At Yamaha we believe you get out what you put in. With over half a century of motorcycle innovation, that means some pretty special machines. The 150cc range embodies freedom, fun and fulfillment – each model is built with the passion that comes from decades of competing and winning at the highest level.
Forging new technology and bringing it to the road is what Yamaha is all about. Our 150s don't just look the business, they do the business – covering every need, from simple economy to custom luxury.
The YZF-R15 also has real racing pedigree, featuring the aggressive styling of the R6 and R1 as well as a MotoGP inspired mid-ship exhaust.distinctive R-series styling, sporty performance and handling, the YZF-R15 is the perfect introduction to supersport riding.
Its liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, single cylinder, SOHC engine is tuned to deliver free-revving performance. And like all R-series bikes, it features a lightweight Deltabox frame. Linked to a cast aluminium swinging-arm, this gives the R15 class-leading handling.
Lightweight 5-spoke wheels help to minimise unsprung weight and deliver impressive roadholding, while effective stopping power comes from a large diameter 270mm front disc and 230mm diameter rear disc.
For 2015, Yamaha India have chosen to update the YZF-R15 V2.0 with two new colour options named – GP Blue & Streaking Cyan. The colour updates are announced considering the approaching festive season, Holi. There are very few motorcycles out there that come close to the bullet proof build of the R15 V2.0. Even the original R15’s from the first lot are going strong and that goes a long way to show the quality associated with a Yamaha machine. While the R15 V2.0 is an excellent machine, enthusiasts were expecting more than a colour options update on this fine Yamaha machine this year. With competition pushing the performance boundaries a lot is expected from Yamaha. As a company it is important to keep their models fresh and announce specials during the festive times to increase sales. But from a customer point of view, we really wish that Yamaha would upgrade the R15 V2.0 with some more goodies and not just colours. We say goodies because the 150cc engine on the Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 is already kinda maxed out and extracting any more power from it would affect reliability. But to be honest what the entire motorcycling community is expecting from Yamaha India is the 250/300cc engine. The quarter litre Yamaha has been quite the tease for those waiting for an upgrade. There is still no news from the company and the best we could dig up was an information that Yamaha India are planning a June launch for the machine and it would be the one with the 300cc mill.
