From high school lockers to storage spaces, people often use simple, inexpensive locks to keep their valuables safe. As long as you have the key in your possession, you trust that your lock will be an air-tight line of defense against thieves. That is, of course, unless some good-for-nothing criminal has heavy-duty tools for breaking in.
But as it turns out, you don’t need an angle-grinder to break a lock and plunder your possessions. As scary as it sounds, your trusted lock can be easily cracked with just a few simple items.

With just a simple zip-tie, thieves can bypass your lock in seconds.

A can lid can also be fashioned into a nifty lock-picking tool.

Even a bamboo skewer can help facilitate a break-in.

I had no idea how easy it was to pick a lock… I’m going out to get a heavy-duty disk lock immediately.
